These ancient art forms have been uncovered on both hard and mud-caked cave walls, in towering desert canyons, and on seemingly innocuous stones in the middle of fields, for at least 200 millennia. All across the world, these signs feature candid primary shapes, and stark linear and circular markings. And often, figures, humans, and animals who seem to stand apart in austerity, or otherwise engage in a contest, or display some potent power...

In nature, seed pod vessels carry an ancient promise made by life. Sheltered within, the seeds await in stasis. The seed, in its effort, relies on trillions of other species and on the geological formations and elemental forces around it to express its inherent nature, to thrive. DISCOURSE, LANGUAGES, AND ART

Langauge profoundly influences my creative sense for inherency and connectedness, both in my life and in the greater world. Language can be verbal and non-verbal, oral or written, and it carries the weighty purpose to explain, demonstrate, and identify concepts and to communicate commonness and diversity in a shared reality.

When I design my art and patterns, I often return to this wealth of diverse knowledge to consider multiple perspectives, styles, and even meanings that my art might convey...

A NON-VERBAL DISCOURSE WITH VISUAL ART

We each express this creative exigent power to communicate, whether in an effort between individuals, groups, or within ourselves. To do this we often rely on language in the form of phonetics and linguistics, as in distinct sounds and grammars.
